How can I search for all files that do not have cover art?
« on: February 14, 2002, 05:26:51 am »

I sometimes want MJ to add cover art to mp3's that don't already have it.  In order to do so efficiently, I'd like to be able to search for files that don't have art, then use file properties to find cover art for these - how can I do this?

"Get Cover Art" will only get art for files that don't have an image already.

So, just run it on all files and it should do what you want.

Take care.

This is not a good solution for libraries with 1000's of files. MJ takes a long time to process 10,000 files initially just to get to the file prop dialog, then the waisted time of checking the local directory for an existing image, then, worst of all, the long time waiting for it to update the database with info about the new images. And if you leave it over night to do those 10,000 files-- You have no way to know which  were updated with image and wich were not.

As was suggested before ther should be a flag in the database for coverart Y or N, and we should be able to search by that flag.

... Only 7000 files to find art for and counting... marysm

Just make a playlist "Cover Art (analyzed)" or something similar.

I'd like to. But at this stage in the game, I'm not sure which files to add to it without checking each individual file to see if it's got cover art. Next Page Back in the 7.2 days, I started doing this, but because my database kept corrupting, I couldn't maintain it.

(the above was not meant to be a pain in the ass - just expressing why a flag of some sort that could be used to generate a smartlist would be better)

I have 4k|PLS| mp3's, and find this a little slow too, btw:
