I'm racking my brains on this and there seems to be conflicting views. My setup is:
MC MadVR set to 0-255
NVidia card set to 0-255 (via MadVR levels tweaker)
JVC projector set to enhanced (0-255)

When I use a calibration disc (or MKVs from it) to set brightness, I can't see the 0-16 bars flash no matter how high I put brightness up on the projector. Whereas the same set up on my Oppo shows them clearly.

Is MadVR clipping 0-16? If so, what's the best way to calibrate to get the correct brightness?

You're not supposed to see 0-16 with these settings. If you can see 16-235, everything is working perfectly.

Thanks Hendrik - so should I set my projector to "standard" and Madvr to 16-235?

If you see 16-235 now with your settings, everything is perfect.
In fact, its generally the best way to set everything to 0-255, and madVR will take care of everything for you and ensure videos look just fine.
