Web browser in MC disables Adobe Flash?
« on: August 15, 2014, 01:09:43 am »

When opening a web browser window inside MC using the "links" tabs the web browser seems to have flash disabled? I tried both MSIE and Chrome.

When trying to start Spotify's web player I get this:

ve you set this up in Connected Media?? Works for me with this link (see screenshot); I'm set to chromium. Thought Spotify was HTML5?! Anyway doesn't hurt to download latest version of Flash to be sure.

Not sure if Loopback will work (File Open URL) with Spotify never tried it

BTW Grooveshark is totally HTML5 no Flash. See if that works if Spotify still doesn't work through connected Media

I use the "link" thing in MC to do artist lookups on Spotify (and AMG, Wikipedia and so on) and search for similar artist tips. Hence not clicking it in "Connected Media".

BUT when double checking just now I DO get the same error message when clicking on Spotify under "connected media" too. Also when clicking Grooveshark but there I am offered to try Groovesharks "beta HTML5 version".

So I obviously have a problem on my pc. Wonder how I broke it  :P :-\

Flash is enabled and the Spotify web player works fine in both MSIE and Chrome when used normally (outside MC). It's when starting the web page within MC both web browsers complain flash that is missing. Any ideas anyone?

I presume you checked if the flash is updated (try both ie and non ie versions). Or remove it and reinstall?

One thing I just re-checked in mine -- there are some fonctions in Spotify which no longer work for me -- the player at the left, so I can skip songs easily; so its not only your PC. But I can play anything I want just don't see the album jacket. S and the controls on their player don't work.

I run W8.1 with all updates.
MC 19.0.163
Chrome 36.0.1985.143
MSIE 11.0.11

Looked in all settings in MC but failed locating any setting that fix this.

Odd that Spotify works flawlessly in both browsers running outside MC (as seen in the screenshot below).

Anyway, here's the flash version in MSIE, the file date is just a few days ago:

I run Avast antivirus. Turning it off did not help.

Strange problem...

The browser in MC is not directly related to any external browsers. Plugins are not available.

ah ha, of course makes sense.  thanks Hendrik! Well that leaves you with HTML, or my way (no player controls), or loopback if you have a second audio out card available on your pc.

Sorry. I'm confused. Have web pages with flash stuff never worked in "Connected Media" and "Links"? I just had a feeling flash worked. Earlier.

Anyhow, are web pages with flash not supposed to work, so I should just stop looking for a way to get it working?

Aha! Ok!

NP, just an easy change of "action" to "Open in external browser" and everything is working ok (but not in a tab, but I'll survive  ;D).

I do/did web sites and to get everything working right you would need a full
browser/browser-engine like WebKit, Gecko or Trident in JRiver MC.
You can imagine that something like that would be more than hard if you
think about what company's and how many people work on just browsers
like IE, Chrome and Firefox...

We do use a full web engine, either an IE control or Chromium. However, that doesn't give you access to any of the plugins those use in your external browser.

Ähhh you are the LAV guy (your sig)?
And i just realized that you are German...
So the land of innovators is not totally lost ;D

We? So you are involved with MC?
If thats the case then thats a big point for MC.
Fiddling around in XBMC to use MPC+LAV+madVR is not what i liked.

Sorry for the off topic.
