How can I eliminate 2 second gaps in CD Burns?
« on: February 02, 2002, 06:37:54 am »

I just tried to burn a crossfaded CD using the new Diskwriter, and when I played it back I noticed there was a 2 second gap between each track. When I checked my settings, I noticed that the 2 second gap option is checked and it's greyed out so I can't uncheck it. I'm not using the generic driver, and the box to use the generic driver is also greyed out, so I can't use it if I wanted to. Any ideas on how to eliminate this?

Here's the info about my burner as provided by Nero's info tool. Any clues in here about why I can't disable 2 second gaps?

Hm... I just noticed that the box for Generic Driver is checked and greyed out. So presumably MJ is using the generic driver for my writer and won't let me change that.

It wasn't using the generic driver in 7.2. I'm not sure now if it has been for all builds of 8...

Okay, so apparently MJ started using the generic driver when I removed wnaspi32.dll from system32.

I had done that because MJ had stopped being able to burn CD's using ASPI, even though it had been able to in previous builds.

I put it back, and now things seem to be ok.

This ASPI stuff is really frustrating sometimes. Is this an MJ's in Beta thing, or just an ASPI thing?

Yeah, that part makes sense. I'm asking about why one day, MJ will burn quite happily using ASPI, and then the next, I can't burn to save my life so I have to remove ASPI, and then later if I put it back, MJ's happy again.
