ideal DSP settings for 2.1 audio output?
« on: October 29, 2014, 10:05:41 am »

I have jriver connected to my 2.1 audio setup and am looking to configure jriver to optimum sound quality for the below audio setup.

my setup:
- PC with jriver 19
- HP Proliant Media Server
- Cambridge Audio DAC Magic Plus
- Bryston BP20 Pre amp
- Bryston 4BST Power amp
- REL T9 Subwoofer
- B&W Nautilus 803 Speakers
- Kimber Timbre balanced XLR Interconnects
- Transparent Audio Speaker Cables

I'm wondering what are the best DSP settings to use in terms of Output Encoding, Sample Rate, Channels, Mixing and Subwoofer?

Should I use JRSS or no upmixing or downmixing?

I stream all video content into the main lounge so these settings will be used almost solely for 2.1 channel hifi.

Audio content is primarily lossless but some lossy content also.

I find I achieve optimum sound quality when jacking my DAC straight into my power amp via balanced XLR though I have other inputs - Turntable, Playstation etc - that makes it more practical to run through preamp instead.

Any tips or opinions appreciated.

Cheers

It's pretty obvious, but pick "2.1 channels" for the output channels.
