If I use a VST plugin for dithering at the end of the DSP chain in JRiver, the output of the plugin will be 24 bit audio padded to 64 bit floating point. Is JRiver going to apply dithering again on this padded 64 bit audio or truncate the 64 bit audio to 24 bit by discarding the zero bits of padding?

Can anyone please share some info about JRiver's application of dithering?

There's a thread here which covers JRiver approach to dithering.

I went through this thread. I couldn't find the answer to my question though. Apparently, dithering will be applied twice if a VST plugin is used for dithering. Can anyone confirm this? If yes, then perhaps there should be an option to bypass JRiver's dithering when such a plugin is used.
