A long time ago, I deselected generation of video sidecar files.

But now I have decided that I'd like to start using sidecar files for my homevideos.

Is it possible to generated sidecar files for a limited selection of files?

And, is it possible to limit the later generation of sidecar files to a subset of imported files?

Select the desired videos, right-click and "Update Tags (from Library)" should create the sidecar files.  I don't think there is a way just to write for certain Sub Types.  You would have to keep doing it manually (and keep turning on and off the sidecar writing option).
