2 versions of JRiver
« on: November 28, 2014, 06:08:00 pm »

I bought JRiver 19 and used it for quite some time. I like the feature where the cover art gets store on the computer. I recently upgraded to JRiver 20 and installed it and have been using it. I find I have 2 versions on my computer versions 19 and 20 complete with 2 folder holding the cover art. Can I uninstall ver 19 but keep the cover art in its' folder or do I transfer the  cover art to the ver 20 folder. The media folder is common to both so there is no issue there

Thanks

There is a cover art folder setting in Options.  Check the settings.  If they are different, you can uninstall MC19.

The safest thing to do would be to back up the folder first.

I also just updated to MC20 after using MC19 for about 1 year now.

However, I must have missed the memo to uninstall MC19 because I also now have two versions installed on my PC.

In fact, MC20 appears to be a fresh install with none of my settings for MC19.   Did I do something wrong?

When should MC19 be uninstalled?   Is there some way of saving the settings in MC19 that can be restored to MC20?

Thanks,
Herb...

Welcome to the forum.

You can try backing up in MC19 and restoring in MC20.

Uninstall MC19 when you're happy with MC20.

I am unable to uninstall MC18, so I now have 3 versions on my computer. I am running on Win 7 Home, and when I try to uninstall MC18 the computer says "Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working" and I am presented with 2 choices (either "Check online for a solution and close the program" or "Close the program"). Any helpful suggestions (keeping in mind that I have a low level of understanding of computer-ese) are greatly appreciated. Also, is there any objective way when one "knows" when to uninstall MC19? Thank you very much.

I think the fix was to download MC18 and install it over the one installed and then uninstall, be sure to reboot ...but just so you know having it installed won't hurt anything....

Since I'm still a relative newbie and this is my 1st update - started with MC19 - I remain unclear on the recommended method of updating versions.  I can't seem to find anything on this topic.

I understand the idea of backing up/restoring a library but what about all the other settings within MC19 - like file paths, etc - all the other settings in the Options section?  Is there a backup/restore function for this?

If there are instructions for this, please point me in the right direction!
