I'm a new user of MC20, and have been working (painstakingly) on my library for the last couple of weeks. I appear to have LOST a group of videos that I had specifically tagged in some way that seems to have made them "disappear" ! I have tried re-importing same folders, and nothing happens. Even when I try to play these same files from the hard drive, I get error messages saying that the file type ( .ifo or .mkv )  isn't supported, even when other files in the library of those types will play without a problem. I am at a loss. I considered deleting the library and starting from scratch but I have soo many hours into this present one, that I wanted to seek advice first.

Try restoring a backup.  MC makes them automatically.  File > Library > Restore.

it appears just moving the files and re-importing does the trick !
