I am using jriver 20.00.37 parametric EQ and would like to be able to use REW (Room Equalizer Wizzard) to measure my frequency respond and adjust accordingly based on graphs seen in REW.  Can someone shows me how to get this to work.  I assume the new WDM audio driver from this .37 version makes it easy but still I dont know how.  Step by step would be good.  I'm sorry if this has been asked.  If so, a link to that thread would be great.  Thanks in advance.

I prefer to use asio line in for this as then I have greater flexibility around which channels to route audio through & avoid the need to keep the wdm input alive. The precise way to set this up depends on your hardware though so it is probably worth posting what kit you're using.

In general the process is just

- configure REW to output to a device that JRiver sees as an input
- configure REW to take input from your mic as normal
- configure JRiver to see the input from REW (for WDM, this means having a WDM zoneswitch rule ready to activate & REW set to output to the default device, use the REW signal generator to send some sound to wake up the WDM input if required)
- take measurements fiddling with JRiver DSP as necessary (your mixer app if using) to route the output to the channel you want to measure

This is how I do in my system:
1) Use second playback device as default Windows output (I am using HDMI out which is not connected to any device).
2) Configure REW to use default output (it must be default setting in REW, I guess). PC must be restarted for changes to take effect.
3) Use WASAPI loopback in JRiver MC.
4) Take measurements with REW.

It redirects sound from the default audio card to JRiver. Here is the original thread:  WASAPI Loopback

Try both. In my system it works best with the wdm driver. When I use loopback with rew to test the results of  convolution filters I get some distortion and crackling noises that I don't get with the wdm driver.

Under preferences in rew select the wdm driver as the output device.

^^ that is all to it?  I have my computer AMD HDMI output set as default and in JRiver audio device as AMD HDMI output [WASAPI]. I believe I has to change something before I set JRiver WDM as rew output to work, right? Thanks.

That should be ok. You could set a different sound device as the default one in windows to make sure to avoid any conflict. But if your current setup plays correctly through Jrmc all you have to do is indeed set the wdm driver in rew as the output device.

Okay, I cannot get this to work. I only have one hdmi connection on my computer. I use asio driver in REW. In window, I see my hdmi connection as well as jriver mc20 (2 channel analogue only). I am using the UMIK-1 usb mic. I tried everything mentioned here with or without loop back and cannot get REW to measure my jriver output. Can some one help in detail what each of the setting needs to be? Screenshot would be extremely helpful. TIA.

For my part, I'm a little confused about what you've tried at this point, what settings you're using, and what didn't work.

You talk about using an HDMI output and a USB mic with ASIO in REW?   But neither of those things are normally ASIO devices?  What devices do you have selected as inputs and outputs in REW?  What devices do you have selected for outputs in JRiver?
 
Also, normally REW only allows you to use one ASIO device for input and output (unless that's changed in recent versions), so you shouldn't try to use ASIO mode in REW with a USB mic.  You should use the JAVA/direct sound mode instead.

After changing REW away from ASIO, do you see your Mic as an input option in REW?  Do you see the JRiver output as an output option in REW? If so, select those two and try to measure; if not, let's start there.
