Basics, Artist Veiw
« on: March 14, 2015, 08:53:19 am »

I am a newbie, noob, (are they the same? are they derogatory? do I care?) I am having a hard time finding basic info on the forum, wiki, etc. that is not written in Geek. I want my albums to be viewed by last name: Dylan, Bob; Cash, Johnny. Some bands I want: Nationals, The; Beatles, The. When it is 'Multiple Artist' dedicated to a particular artist, covers, I want it listed under the artist: 'Encomium' under Led Zeppelin, 'Return of the Grievous Angel' under Parsons, Gram. I do not want Floyd, Pink  or Sabbath, Black. Can 'Compilation' and 'Soundtracks' have their own section in the various Album Views?  I do not need to change the info in every track changed. I want to change my View to reflect a record store set up. How do I do this, where do I find this information written in clear concise language free of undefined jargon, with step by step instructions and examples to achieve my goals.  Thanks, PB

if you select a file, right click > library tools > clean file properties

it'll give you options for how to use articles (like The)

changing the first name, last name is slightly more complex...check this thread for some help  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=92346.0
or this thread  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=94744.0

they talk about "record store view"

Thanks ferday, that looks simple and intuitive, guess I'm learning Geek.
