Automatically creating a stacked cache--conundrum
« on: March 12, 2015, 09:13:41 am »

If I were to set up a handheld device folder on my computer (let's call it N:\Cache) AND also designate it as my audio handheld conversion cache folder (N:\Cache in Options>File Location>Conversion Cache>Audio) AND set the folder naming scheme in the handheld options to be the same as the default automatic cache directory structure...could I mimic the old "create cache now" functionality that has been missing for several versions?

I'm worried the wheels might fall off when MC tries to move a file to the cache directory simultaneously with the handheld sync.

If there's only one way to find out, I will go ahead and try it out, but it will take me several hours to move my files to a new drive first so I thought I'd ask if anyone has attempted this.

I had time to try this out this weekend. It failed miserably. MC creates duplicate files for the cache and the sync (suffixed with (1)).

Dang!
