TV EPG no longer auto-loading
« on: March 19, 2015, 07:47:27 pm »

I've configured my EPG to auto-refresh every night at 1am, and it was working fine until about two weeks ago, and then it stopped automatically refreshing.

Once I noticed that it had stopped auto-refreshing, I manually refreshed it and it worked fine, but the auto-refresh still fails to run.  I've tried reconfiguring the auto-reresh dialog to no avail; manual refresh always works.  Is anyone else seeing this?

I checked my registry, it says Last user dialog - Sat, 14 Mar 2015 07:41:29 GMT, Last silent refresh - Thu, 19 Mar 2015 14:35:01 GMT.  So it appears to be working for me.

Make sure you run the latest version (currently at 84).

I wonder if it takes the "24 hours" literally, and thereby skips the next one after you manually refresh ?

i thought of that, and waited two days after my manual update before reporting.  It hadn't updated since my manual update two days ago.

I'm running .84; it's definitely not auto updating for me.

Mine also stopped 2 weeks ago - I presumed it was to do with the changes recently and have just set up it all again.

Recent changes in TV setup indeed messed up a bunch of things.  You do need to run EPG setup manually after you update to the latest.

There is indeed a bug!  Sorry about that.

For next build:

7. Fixed: Television EPG auto loading did not work in the last few builds.

Excellent!  Glad I'm not crazy (at least not on this issue)

When I refresh manually, using Digital Terrestrial Lineup (USA), I get about 8 days of guide.  Is that correct ?

It depends on the source of data which we do not control.  What I get here seem to agree to what you get.  However, on a closer look, I find that my guide data contain those dating back to 3/17/15, and forward up to 3/28/15.  That covers 11 or 12 days.  There are 8 days of data going forward.

I just checked my guide and had nothing. Nothing in To Be Recorded either. I missed some recordings.

I also found that all my device settings were gone and no tuners were being used. I had to set it all up and I'm scanning for channels now. Is there a way to easily add all the programs that I record?

In the last few builds EPG did not automatically load in the background. This has been fixed and will be in the next build that comes to the public.

Can you elaborate a little bit on this?  What do you mean by "no tuners were being used" for example?  Channels are in the database, so you could use Library restore to recover your channels.

I should have said that no tuners were visible or active. They were just gone. I had to go through TV setup from the beginning. I selected my tuners and re-scanned for channels.

It is normal to see no programs in the last few days as MC had a bug in the last few builds that did not update EPG.  It is not normal to have lost all channels.  I have no idea.  It may be caused by a corrupt database.

As for tuner devices, all devices non-CableCARD devices should always be present and available for use, unless you have a system problem, or a problem with your devices (driver or hardware).  CableCARD devices show up inside MC a few seconds (or more) after MC starts.  If you are able to rescan channels, then the devices are there.

I have a Silicon Dust HD plus a Hauppage card inside. I had not made any changes to the TV setup including drivers in a long time. When I checked why shows weren't getting recorded I found there were no tuners in the list. Going through initial setup resolved it.

It is working now.
