managing zones on the server....still
« on: September 30, 2003, 07:04:14 pm »

i have built a home audio server with multiple audio cards in a PC to drive several zones.  the cards feed a multizone amp and finally ceiling speakers in each room.   i wanted to use media center and perhaps mainlobby/musiclobby to control this system, but i have never figured out how to have the media center server decode on multiple cards on the same machine (treating them as zones) vs streaming MP3's to remote clients on separate PCs (which I don't have in this set up).   anyone?

To set up multiple zones and target specific audio devices, go to / click the "Playback Filter" button located on the lower left side of the screen near the "Shuffle Mode" button.

From there you can select Playback Zone, and then Zone manager.  You can then edit add or delete playback zones as desired.  To target a specific audio card create the zone with the add button, then click on that zone (it does not have to be active) from there, click configure.

Click the settings button in the output section and then on the next screen, you can select the device you want to send that zone's output to.

Good luck,

John
