MediaCenter's screen dimming feature...
« on: May 06, 2015, 10:28:38 am »

As a plasma display owner I find the dimming feature to be quite useful. Is there a reason why this feature isn’t also available for video playback as well. Now when I have to pause a video for any length of time I either return to the main menu where the dimming feature applies or turn off the display.

Is this something that could be implemented without too much fuss?

MC allows the system's screen saver (I use a black screen) or display power settings to kick in when a video has been paused.  So you should be able to set that and have it "dim" your screen.

Mine is a HTPC used only for media and used exclusively in Theatre mode. My display has a power off timer but I don't use it for the reason you stated. I've used the system screen saver in the past but didn't find it completely reliable and I found I was constantly checking the display to make sure it was functioning.

I just thought the in-house implementation would be a far more elegant and reliable solution.
