OTA EPG - Any thoughts on including the code in MC?
« on: March 19, 2015, 07:15:00 pm »

I use EPG Collector, and it works OK for me (DVB-T).  While there probably better sources for individual EPG's pulling the EPG data from the DVB-S, DVB-T, DVB-C, ATSC terrestrial or cable and Clear QAM broadcast data would be good as a Std Feature in MC.

EPG Collector is a sourceforge project.

It is in my plan (at least for some tuner types, such as DVB).

I actually switched back to MC20 for TV because it already gets OTA EPG information for the USA automatically (using Digital Terrestrial Lineup).

I spent countless hours setting up an EPG grabbing program, and then the guide data source changed their format, which I only discovered because no programs were recorded.

At that point I decided that 21st Century life was already complicated enough without adding " Keeping track of EPG data source format, and checking that EPG grabbing program ran okay " to my schedule.

Any progress on this?

I would love MC to get the OTA EPG data rather than relying on an external script.  (Especially since my script just broke after upgrading to Windows 10!)

MC2XML is now built into MC21.  You don't need an external script.

You do if you live in any region where MC2XML provides no data..... such as Aust.  This script referenced in this thread is actually the code for an OTA EPG grabber (where the EPG is broadcast as a part of the TV stream).
