MC 20.0.132 constantly crashing on New Win8.1 PC. Also Crashed on older Win7 system. Crashes when trying to update files - crashes when doing audio analysis - crashes when importing files. Quite frankly the program seems to crash every freakin' time I use it. Very disappointed with a program I've been using for years suddenly becoming virtually unusable. If there is a power outage it has to "Re-install" itself every time. Sick of this problem, looking into a better running program to handle my music.

Problems like this can be caused by antivirus.

If it is crashing like that, something is wrong (I can't remember the last time MC20 crashed on my systems, been a LONG while). If you want help, this guide will tell you the most common things to check, and how to provide the information we need to assist you in diagnosing the issue:

To clarify the issue, the program "freezes" requiring a restart whenever I try to analyze audio, whenever I update tags, whenever I pretty much do anything other than play audio. The PC is new and the issues have occurred under 3 different antivirus progz. It becomes a fight just trying to update cue files for creating playlists (files are flac). I am constantly getting Program not responding errors. just now while trying to analyze audio in a playlist the prog froze 3 times, I just gave up. If I can't get this to work I will obviously  have to find a better or at least more stable media player/server. Have done backup/restore 4 times, dumped prog and reinstalled 2 times, turned off virus prog, firewall, all non essential progz  to no avail. Makes no sense at all. Will set up logging to see if there is info there to help manage the problem. Thanks for comments.

What you describe is a freeze, not a crash.  Sometimes the OS just doesn't respond.

If it is an antivirus program causing it, disabling it may not be enough.  Uninstall it.

Try running Windows Resource Monitor while doing your normal JRiver MC tasks. Watch the CPU, Memory, and Disk resources/activity. Maybe that will provide a clue. You may also want to try HWMonitor http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html - see what temperatures are, etc.

As I said above, before any of that... Most of the causes of these kinds of issues are covered by the Troubleshooting Guide. And, if not, we need the information requested there to make any kind of diagnosis.  Please go through this and report back with the information requested:

Everything else is wild guessing.
