Every video card that I have every seen is internal only.

Does you laptop have any AGP or PCI solts in it ?

Don't know of any USB cards but that does not mean they do not exist.

Dont know, but

http://www.leadtek.com/multimedia/winfast_tv_usb2_1.html

Yaobing can tell you if it will work with MC.

As far as how good it is, search for reviews on google.

Are we talking about ONLY a TV card & not a Video card with TV?

If so then I have also seen USB TV cards advertised.

You might do a Google search for TV USB or USB TV.

doc

yes, just a tv card (no video card). i know they exist: hauppauge and pinnacle make them amongst others. However most usb ones are mono. there are a few stereo ones but im not sure mc works with them...

You will need to get a TV tuner that connects through the USB port.  Also, if I am not mistaken, it needs to use WDM drivers (not VFW) to work with MC.

As far as video capture, you should be able to capture analog video using the coaxial input on the tuner device.

I was looking at this device for an option->http://www.pinnaclesys.com/ProductPage_n.asp?Product_ID=1008&Langue_ID=7.

Has anyone used this with Media Center?

Shadowen

i have been looking at the asme device although at close to $200 id like to know if its going to work before i buy it.

As far as i know the only TV cards that MC supports are by pinnacle, hauppauge and ATI:

i cant find any usb ati cards.

Hauppauge's usb cards are either mono, or the stereo ones are from the PVR range which isnt supported

that brings us to pinnacle, and although i know the pctv pro (internal card only) works with mc, im not sure about the pctv deluxe (usb version)

anyone else have any input?

As far as i know the only TV cards that MC supports are by pinnacle, hauppauge and ATI:

A number of other TV devices (other than the three brands above) also work. We did not put them in "official" supported devices list only because we did not test them. Other users have successfully used them with MC.

Unfortunately, I have neither tested, nor heard of other people using the particular device that you are inquiring about. Hope some users will provide some inputs.
