LOVE OPERA Been using v 7 since it first came out about a year ago.
BUT... See below...
Have tried MyIE2... OK I guess but not my cup of tea, tried Mozella, NetScape, & 3 or 4 other so-called great browsers.
Let me say one thing here & now...
They ALL have problems of one kind or another These problems can be broken down into three basic categories...
1: A lot of web sites are so IE dependent that many sites have problems with any browser except a true IE based browser. Opera has a big problem with site compatibility as does Mozella, NetScape & all other non IE based engines. Many sites will appear to work correctly until you try to buy something or use the sites e-mail to ask a question. What happens is you will get part way through the purchase or e-mail process only to have it hang on one screen. Bring up IE & it will work flawlessly. Also, some sites do not render correctly with non IE based browsers. As time goes on this is becoming more & more of a problem as almost everyone is now building sites for IE only as it controls apx 95% of the market..
2: Most plug-ins do not work correctly, if at all, with IE based browsers such as MyIE2. Yes, I know they claim plug-in compatibility but when you look at their list of approved plug-ins it is very small & never seems to include the ones I want to run. All plug-ins work with IE as that is the browser they are all made for. Using the IE engine in an IE based browser does not mean plug-in compatibility. MyIE2 & other IE based browsers change the interface so much that most plug-ins won't even load let alone work.
3: You really need TWO browsers... your favorite browser such as Opera, & IE for those bothersome sites that all non IE browsers have problems with.
Yes, I love Opera for it's very slick, polished & nicely tabbed interface, for it's great feature set, for it's extremely fast speed. But, I still use IE on all sites that require my various plug-ins & for those sites that I know Opera has problems with.
If only Opera was IE based then we would finally have a really great all-in one browser. But even then it most likely would have problems with IE plug-ins.
