MC "finds" non-existing media
« on: May 31, 2004, 02:52:50 pm »

My external drive J: contains media for MC, and nothing else (MC itself is on another drive).
I put all newly acquired media on their proper locations on J:.

However, when I do 'Imprort media files'/'Search', with 'J:/" in the seach field and 'Search for files in subdirectories' selected, MC imports not only all the new media on J: but also some files on other drives, files that do not even exist!

There are 290 such phantom files. They are always the same, and I actually do have them in my proper media library.
When mistakenly 'importing' them,  MC gives them a location on drives H: and I: and keeps the proper path they have on J:.
Now, I do have external drives H: and I:, but
a) they do no have any media files and
b) MC should not even look at them when I tell it to search J: and its subs.

I hope that my description of this annoyance was clear, and that someone can help me identify what's happening. Thanks in advance!

PS - I use MC 10.0.116.

Okay, I only have 10.0.116, but when I try to upgrade with 'Check for updates' from the 'Help' menu, I get 'No updates available at this time'.

Is there something buggy with that feature too?   :)
Should I somehow try to install a new version manually? Will it solve the problem?

Thanks,
W.

check for playlists, .m3u's, that refer to media that no longer exists. I had that problem. Media center imports the playlist and the media it's referring to.

The best place to get the most uptodate updates is at the top of this forum.  "Check for Updates" is only updated once its felt that the updates are fairly stable.
