Showing lyrics in cover view ...
« on: September 13, 2015, 10:40:29 am »

Hello,

I would like to know if any lyrics presentation evolution is on the way ?

Minilyrics is not compatible with MC21 so....

One good think will be to have one more cover view with lyrics (LRC) timeline compatible displaying, fading progression etc.

thanks for all the features...

Hi you are right in that it will not work with MC21

But I have found a workaround

Go to C: Program Files>J River>Media Center 21.exe

Right click and copy

Then go to your desktop and paste you will have Media Center icon on your desktop

Right click the icon click rename

Change the 21 to 20

Then run Mini-lyrics when it says it cant find Media Center and would you like to browse for it point it to your desktop

It will be happy and install and work ok

You can then delete the J River.exe on your desk top and Mini-lyrics will continue working

I don't know how this works but it gets it working again

Hope this is some help

Thanks Steve;
The work around worked.
It would be nice to have MC21 impliment it's own lyrics display, but for now this fix works.

These steps don't seem to be working here, with Mini-Lyrics 7.4.9.

Does anyone have it working on Windows 8.1 Pro?  I've tried the exact steps, variations of those steps, and other tricks, but nothing seems to help.  Either it says

"Sorry, the folder you browsed does not have file: Media Center %d.exe
15
20"

Or complains about being unable to load JRTools (.dll)

MC 20 and 19 have both been uninstalled from this computer.  Only 21 is here now.

Ideas?

Hmmm- I'm not sure I can help, but I can confirm that I had it running under Win 8.1 with MC 20 & 21. I then upgraded to a new SSD drive and did a clean install of Win 10 on it & haven't had any difficulty running MiniLyrics with it. Do you run MC Media Server on Windows startup? I do, maybe related to the JRTools thing??

Yes I do run server.  But the JRTools not found error happens during MiniLyrics installation.  MiniLyrics looks like it's trying to find JRTools.dll in the MC program directory.  The file is there, but MiniLyrics says it can't find it.  I've tried the MiniLyrics install in Administrator mode, but still no joy.

I've been putting off updating this system to W10 because I don't trust W10 to do it correctly with a lot of devices, drivers and audio plug-ins installed.  I'm going to have to byte the bullet pretty soon now, though.

Minilyrics is working without a problem on my system with version 21, (W10). So perhaps is something that you do wrong.

Thanks for the clever tip Steve, it works indeed. I suggest we all contact MiniLyrics/Crintsoft asking for support and perhaps, an alternative way of detecting new Media Center versions.

Ideally, JRiver would team up with them and integrate their database (which is the best, alongside the awesome scrolling lyrics) into Media Center.  ;)

I think the above MiniLyrics workaround does not work with the new 64-bit version of Media Center. Please post if you find a solution, thanks.
