Invalid Audio Decoder filter or output pin
« on: September 03, 2015, 02:58:40 pm »

Just upgraded to v21, and am getting this error when trying to tune a channel: Invalid Audio Decoder filter or output pin

Any ideas?

It happens right after the message 'Adding required components'.

Run MC21 as Administrator once and see if the problem goes away.

Could be a registration issue for one or more of the components.

I tried using the Windows Merit based system, and it does actually work.  RO and ROHQ do not work.

The run as administrator was a quick fix possibility.

I had some issues with my anitvirus software, Symantec's Norton 360, after the upgrade. It took several reboots and several days to get through all "We just blocked this" messages. Then when Norton finally let MC21 work, Windows Firewall popped up a couple of messages. Windows Firewall was supposed to be turned off by Norton 360, but in fact it was just being "managed" by Norton. So I told Windows Firewall to allow the activities it noticed, and have since turned it off as it should be. I still need to investigate what happened there.

Anyway, if the Merit system works, then it definitely sounds like some component is being blocked, or isn't registered.

I suggest configuring all your antivirus and firewall software to notify you with a popup when it does something, rather than automatically block some activity, and see if you can find what is stopping RO from working.

I'm using RO STD. Works fine on MC21.0.3.

EDIT: I see Yaobing is on the job. Hmmm. No internet means can't download a component. Could be the problem. I'll leave my comments above anyway.

I will check Windows Defender.

I just loaded MC21 on a new WMC7 installed with only the latest drivers for the PC, no virus SW, and it started stream is by using Windows Merit System. Changed it to ROHQ no streaming. Changed backed to Windows Merit and will not stream any more. Same effect on 2 PCs.

I have the same problem with live TV. My server plays live TV and will play videos but my 2 clients connected to the server will not play live TV or video. Weird. Don't know why the server does but the clients will not.

I had my tech look at my router. He turned anti virus off and immediately Live TV and my video files play properly.

Having the same error message trying to run an ISO here.

Trying to fulfill a New Years Resolution to get back into my guitar training. I loaded all the lessons in as ISO's on the htpc - those are about it, which is why I haven't noticed an issue till now. All I can say is  they worked perfectly a year back, which is the last time I promised myself to get back into the guitar training. As I do every year about this time. <G>

Running the latest stable version of MC19 if that helps. Only video option I see that's adjustable is set to the default Red October Standard.

Aha ... fixed it myself. I usually have my audio server set offline as all I usually use it for is audio playback. Went online to ask this question, and next time I clicked one of the ISO's, I got an "INSTALLING REQUIRED COMPONENTS" message ... working great now ...

So ... (never mind). I'll go ahead and post this as others might find it helpful!
