I was playing music and listening over headphones while doing e-mail on a different PC from the one that Media Center is installed on. After a while of listening, the music just turned off.
Ah-hah, I realize...that computer is set to screensave after 5 minutes, turn off the monitor after 15 minutes, and turn off the hard drives after 1 hour, and never go into standby. I had been listening for about an hour, so I guess the hard drives turned off.
Unfortunately, nothing would get the computer to respond to anything. Normally, in this state, moving the mouse or hitting a key turns on the screen and spins up the drives. I can also access it from the network and the same thing happens. But, with MC playing music, the only thing I could do was hit the reset button.
In addition, when I logged back in MC couldn't open the library because it was corrupt. Luckily, I do a daily backup, so I didn't lose anything but the "Now Playing".
I know there are newer versions of MC available, but I'd be surprised if this bug is fixed in them.
The machine is an Intel D865PERL motherboard with a P4 2.4C with Hyperthreading disabled (since I run Win2K, why enable it?) and 1GB of RAM.
