Perhaps change the line color to gray and/or line type to maybe "dashed" instead of solid/continuous?  Better yet, maybe a "https://www.google.com/search?q=slider+bar&biw=1317&bih=673&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiizI6Y1e7LAhXEOiYKHXZUD8AQ_AUIBigB (slider bar)" above and below the guide? Kind of like the way the tab settings display in a document, or the way a nurse slides the weights back and forth on the scale at the doctors office.

I think it is pretty near perfect as it is now. No changes please.

But I can understand some people may want to turn it off. However, it has been a very common request in all the EPG/PVR type software and firmware I have used, so it must be desirable to many people.

For me, it's completely pointless and ruins the aesthetics (my wife said it best, "it looks like something's wrong with the tv...also, the time is RIGHT there").

There are so many more important/useful things that need to be addressed with regards to the Guide (scrolling still does not anchor on the left, search function doesn't show channel, logos not respecting transparencies, no filtering of the guide based on content, etc).  It's not like you guys have to reinvent the wheel here.  Use WMC's Guide for a few minutes and you'll find a lot of very useful details that quickly and logically accessible.

Just please make that garish vertical line an option.

The line would be useful if the current time wasn't displayed in the top right corner of the screen AND if the guide actually went backwards in time some X number of hours.

That's nowhere near as useful, Jim. I'm not interested in looking at a clock to see what the time is, I just want to know what's on now, and where each program is with respect to now. The line achieves that perfectly.

To be honest I never really understood the need for a vertical current time indicator. The currently time is always the left-most field. They're half hour blocks. How hard is it? The yellow line literally hovers within a half hour block. If the guide itself was static i.e the left most time block only updated every four hours or so, I could understand the need for the line, but not as is.

Part of what drew me into JRiver years ago was the power, flexibility, and customizability.

Why such a silly thing is being force on users who feel strongly against the usefulness and implementation (as evidenced by some in this thread) of this line is beyond me, and, to me, seems in discordance with JRiver's design philosophy.  Specifically, there are options for just about everything.

I realize that there about 20 people who use Theater View Guide, which makes it all the more baffling why such a stance has been taken with regards to making it an option.  10 people like it and 10 people hate it.  Why do we need to "compromise" when the solution is so clear?
