Imported ISO Shows Same Track Twice in Library
« on: April 17, 2016, 09:37:16 pm »

MC21.
Audio ISO stored in a local network drive mapped as an S: drive in MC server.

Import has been working fine but now whenever I try to import any SACD ISO disc, the same track appears twice in the library.

e.g.

Disc with Track a, b, c.

After import, it will show:

Track 1 - a
Track 2 - b
Track 3 - c
Track 4 - a
Track 5 - b
Track 6 - c

There is only one ISO file for each disc. The directory path of all tracks appear to be pointing to the ISO file on the S: drive correctly.

Auto Import is disabled. I was using one time manual import.

This is the "Import Detail" of one of the discs:

Library now has 190 files. Search and update took 0:00.

Imported 22 new files.

In-depth details:
Imported:
    S:\[SACD] Mutter - Carmen Fantasie\Carmen-Fantasie.iso;1

    S:\[SACD] Mutter - Carmen Fantasie\Carmen-Fantasie.iso;3

    S:\[SACD] Mutter - Carmen Fantasie\Carmen-Fantasie.iso;19
    S:\[SACD] Mutter - Carmen Fantasie\Carmen-Fantasie.iso;20
    S:\[SACD] Mutter - Carmen Fantasie\Carmen-Fantasie.iso;21
    S:\[SACD] Mutter - Carmen Fantasie\Carmen-Fantasie.iso;22

This particular disc only has 11 tracks.

Any pointer will be greatly appreciated.

You are probably importing SACD's that have both stereo and multi-channel (5.1) tracks.

These discs have two copies of each track - one for the stereo format, one for the 5.1

Thus each "track" appears twice.

If you right-click on the list of tracks in JRiver Media Center and enable 'channels' you'll probably see that half the files have 2 channels and half the channels have 6.

Hope this helps...

I agree with the poster above.  That particular SACD does appear to have both stereo and 5.1 channel tracks:

Yes! This is exactly the culprit.

A follow up question: Is there a way to filter out those tracks that the output device is unable to handle?

e.g. filter out the multi channel tracks when streaming to a 2 channel device?

^ Sure.  You can either change your views, or make new Views.  Those things on the left  like Audio > Albums, Audio > Artists... those are views.  Views can have rules applied to them:  Customize View > Settings > Included Files > Set rules for file display.

From the wizard that comes up, you can add rules.  In your case, you'd do something like:

Channels "is less than or equal to" 2

That will show only 1 and 2 channel songs, and filter out the 5.1 tracks.

I would probably make a new view tree and apply that rule at the top of the view tree.  You could modify your existing views too, but you'd want to think about your overall strategy.

Another way to do it, is in a Panes style view.  Just add a pane up top for Channels.  Then click on 2 and you'll only see 2 channel songs.
