Which web browser are you using? If you're using Safari, try a different web browser.

If you're using iOS, it won't matter which web browser you use as all browsers (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) have to use Safari's WebKit engine and not their own (e.g. no Blink, Gecko, etc.). So any issues would likely appear in any and all iOS web browsers.

What type of file?  Are you playing from MC to Panel?

Yes, from MC to panel. All exhibit the same behaviour - MP4, MKV, VOB, M2TS, AVI... (I assume there's some transcoding going on in some cases)

Have tried with Chrome on Win10 & Android Phone.

You can set the conversion in the DLNA Server section of MC's Media Network options.

I've been using Panel a lot lately with my new tablet, and I have to say I'm pretty darn impressed! I'm using it right now for audio only, but I have plans to move to video soon. However there's two suggestion/feature requests in regards to Panel that I have before it's perfect for me...

1) When I click on Artist or Album, Panel loads the list of artists/albums in pages with page numbers. I'd like to recommend to have an option to instead display and sort them from # to Z instead - each letter would be its own page instead of grouping everything to multiple pages with numbers.

2) Instead of just having a thumbnail view mode, it also needs a list view mode too, which would work best for me.

Thoughts? If you guys would like more suggestions/feature requests, I might be able to come up with a few more too. ;)

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately this doesn't change the lack of working seek for videos :-(

There is a bug with seeking when playing videos to the browser.  That is being worked on.

When trying to rate a song (by clicking on the area with the five stars), the songs just restarts. I assume that is due to the rating stars being implemented on the GUI but the underlying functionality not yet?

Can the "current-playing" indicator's behavior in the playlist that is shown on the right-hand side (artwork is on the left) be changed, so that it stays always visible (e.g. leave it in the middle of the page and move the tracklist "up" a song each time the next song starts)?
I currently listen to a long playlist and have a tab open that I check from time to time. Unfortunately, with the current behavior, I need to scroll down and look for the current track that is playing (in case more songs played meanwhile than are being displayed in the playlist on the webpage).

Can the scaling of artwork be controlled? I always wanted to get bigger artwork (like slider the option in MC). Yesterday I changed the width of my browser and noticed that the icons scale but the logic behind this scaling is somehow irritating. When i have a narrow browser I see big artworks, then they become small when I enlarge the browser window. Can this behavor be controlled somehow?

Can the movie list in Panel show posters in a grid as opposed to a list?  And can the posters be poster dimensions and not square?

Same for TV Shows.  Would prefer poster dimensions...

cheers - trying to get used to Panel.

When I click on an album in Panel running on my music server (version 23 windows) the album does not autoplay all songs. It plays the first song and then stops, I have to click on the next song as each song ends, What am I missing?

I have seen this issue posted a few times, but I can't reproduce it. Can you provide me with more details? What devices are you accessing Panel on (i.e. iPad, Windows desktop, etc.)? What web browser are you using? Have you tried a different web browser? Are you playing to the web browser or a different Media Center zone? What is the full version of Media Center?

Correct, the rating stars have no functionality other than displaying the file rating. At this point, there are no plans to add any functionality to them.

This will probably be added in the near future.

The scaling of the artwork is mainly determined by the browser width, but the type of media and browser height also affect it. This is to make it more adaptive to phones tablets and monitors, but there is no user control beyond resizing the browser.

This can kind of be done now, but there are two caveats. From Media Center, if you go to Tools -> Options -> Media Network, and under Advanced click on Customize views for JRemote, Gizmo & Panel... In the Items to Show window you can see the hierarchy JRemote, Gizmo, and Panel use. Under Video, you could select Movies and then next to Show Categories In This Order, you could add a category, like Name. You would then need to restart Media Center to see the change.

The first caveat is that it's going to use squares, so it will likely partially cut off posters. There is no way around this for now. The second caveat is that you're really just creating another "folder" level where the folder icon is actually the cover art. The file list will still be under the new folder. However, with a lot of devices, you can click on the play arrow in the lower right corner of the folder and just go directly to playing.

I am accessing panel on through chrome on a linux desktop.
My media center version is 23.0.103.
Not sure the browser or platform is relevant as I am able to access your "Id Outside" demo instance of panel(in the same browser at https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,112181.0.html) and it performs as expected when I click on the Bob Marley album it plays and auto proceeds to the next song when a song completes.

UPDATE: I have also tried this on chrome on a Mac desktop with the same issue, clicking on album, or playlist only plays the first song. Each subsequent song needs to be started manually. by clicking on the next button.

I stand corrected!!! Using Safari and Firefox on a mac it does auto play the next song. So apparently the browser does matter, but that doesn't explain why the demo works on chrome on my linux desktop but the panel my media center is serving does not. Puzzling.

When the first track completes, does the playing icon remain on that first track or does it go to the next track and just not start playing?

It stays on the first track and does not move to the next track.

UPDATE:
Ok BradATIMA. after playing with this for a while I noticed that this happens inconsistently in chrome. "Sometimes" it will auto proceed to play the next song in the album or playlist but not often.
The interesting part is that when it doesn't continue to the next song I noticed that on the track "current time" and "total track length" bar on the bottom right, the track would stop playing  approximately 1 second less or exactly equal to the total track time(and not proceed to the next track). On firefox or Safari the current time will continue to count to about a second past the total track time triggering it to proceed to the next song. Is it possible that there is a rounding up or down time in the code that causes chrome to cut the "current time" short before reaching the total time and therefore never triggering the code to proceed to the next track. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks again for the help.

I also have the "plays only first track" issue with Panel.   For me it seems Chrome is the issue.  Android 7.1 with Chrome.... playing a regular playlist... stops at the end of the 1st track.  Appears to still be in play mode on the 1st track because only the pause icon is visible on the playing now screen.  Same thing happens on another Android 4.2 phone with Chrome.  I tried the stock browser on the 4.2 phone but it had serious display problems so I really couldn't navigate it.

Switched to Edge browser on my 7.1 phone and it works.  Plays all tracks on the playlist.  FWIW... I did have some display problems with Edge (font too small to read).  Restarted the browser and it was fine.

I've done a quick forum search (so haste may explain why I've missed it if the explanation is somewhere relatively obvious) but where's the shortcut on Panel for MC23+ to the old link to <ip address>:<Port>/MCWS/v1/ ?

[Refer 1st attached pic]

Am I the only one that found that link really useful for reference?
If I'm not the only one in that boat, I'd appreciate that Panel be modified to return the old functionality and have it located somewhere that's not too hard to find.

The other one I found handy from an old school user perspective is <ip address>:<Port>/WebRemote/
but I can understand the desire to retire an old interface and avoid maintenance hassles (note that I can still access this link in MC24).

If that's the case, will WebRemote be given the bullet at some time in the future?

The other features in the old Panel was the "Playing Now" button that seems to have disappeared from the new version.

[Refer the 2nd attached pic for the old deal that I'm on about]

Panel seems to play fine (except for going automatically to the next track) when on my home network (Ethernet cable connected to my work laptop connected via VPN to work intranet). While at work however, clicking the play button does nothing. My phone is able to connect and play using JRemote and Gizmo. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed when clicking on the Bookmark i have saved to access Panel. Is that not a good idea?

i am loving the quality of listening to my phone while at the gym or around the house, but the computer is preferred while at work. I am using the Audioquest Dragonfly v1.2 as my DAC.

Any suggestions are welcome.

thank you in advance.

No.  It was an MC issue and we think it's fixed in MC24.

I apologize if this has already come up in the last 9 pages. I have been trying out Panel with my audio as a replacement for JRemote. It isn't working out for me because I have a large library with thousands of artists and the pages with 200 items just don't cut it. I changed it from 200 to 5000 but Artist images wouldn't load and there is no way to scroll.

A solution may be an option to have text only lists when there are more than 50 items. Also a way to scroll quickly through is needed.

Thanks

Can we get a volume indicator next to the volume slider? I am thinking on a percentage value (similar to the one in MC in the top window).

I have mine set to 500 and the wait isn't too bad.  The speed of the network would, of course, be a factor.

Try clicking on this link, on the same machine where you run MC.

http://localhost:52199

That's just an example.  You're connecting to MC from the same machine, but it will give you an idea of how it works.

+1 for Tyler's suggestion  ;D

Would also love the idea the actual played tracktitle, within a playlist, would be always kept at the middle/center of the playlist.

-Using "/#/Playing" as a dedicated landing inside my iRule (RS232 gear) set-up.
Visualizing me both the Thumbnail incl the actual trackname, as also the complete playlist.
But as the actual played track isn't fixed, as it drops down the list, it's no longer visible to me after some songs.

Would be great, thanks in advance !

Can the "current-playing" indicator's behavior in the playlist that is shown on the right-hand side (artwork is on the left) be changed, so that it stays always visible (e.g. leave it in the middle of the page and move the tracklist "up" a song each time the next song starts)?

Help needed.
I have just connected my idpi fully baked and after inputting my id code the jriver media centre page has frozen. The minimize / restore option is outside of my tv screen so I cant get back to the gui and I am completely stuck. The cursor is moving but I have no control over anything I click on. Should I just unplug and start again? I dont want to corrupt any software on the micro disk.
Any help appreciated.

Pull the plug if necessary, but is it connected to the Internet?

The app uses small icons that toggle through various modes. Something that requires familiarity thru usage. Not necessarily logical from a player control point of view. Seemingly too game like, trying to get from point A to point B.

I am using an iPhone11

Is there a clear guide that I can refer to?

Things like:

How to remove a track from a playlist?

How do I search Artist, Name, Album? Which screen do I need to be in?

Is there a way to enlarge the bottom window while in a playlist to read the name of the 'Now Playng' track?

The top window in the now playing screen is not readable. It's cut off on the bottom. Can I fix or remove it?
