Gapped fade doesn't work as expected
« on: July 24, 2016, 04:31:23 pm »

Hello,

My understanding of gapped fade is that algorithm finds non silent end of first song non silent start of first song and then put selected amount of time between to timestamps. My current configuration for testing purposes is, as screenshot, attached as attachment. And, as is, I am expecting about around 10 seconds of silence between tracks, but it looks like there is no silence gap between.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Gapped fade is kind of funny.

If you manually switch to a different track, it will kick in.

If tracks automatically switch, they'll play gapless.

I actually sent the team an email to ask for thoughts on this one.

I can see both sides, so I'm not sure!

I would ideally like to be able to configure MC to do this:

A.  Put a gap between tracks by default.  This should happen during normal playback without a manual change.  Why?  Because some tracks, on certain albums, end at nearly full volume.  Then, having the next track start right away is jarring and draws your attention away.
B.  Optionally fade out the end of the track; this would make it even less jarring.
C.  Play sequential album tracks gapless.  This should be easy to detect.

I wrote about this some time back.  Then I essentially got used to the idea that MC couldn't do what I wanted (at the time).  So I'm speaking up again, in case anyone else can see why this would be a good feature.

Brian.

This is already there:
Options > Audio > Track Change > Use gapless for sequential album tracks
