DSP studio bug
« on: July 31, 2016, 03:29:11 pm »

If I load a plug-in into DSP Studio and then want to delete it…
The program seems to go thru the motions of deleting it but the plug-n remains.

This is and has been the case for several years now (back to ≈ v.20 and probably earlier)

This was broken in one of the most recent releases.  The release right before that one would not load VSTs at all.  I'm guessing the next build will have both working again:  Loading VSTs and deleting VSTs.

It may have been recently broken but it has never worked properly for me since I stared to actively use the DSP Studio.
And I started with the 1st releases of MC for Mac (v.18), but it was v.20 (if memory serves) where i started to actively use DSP Studio.

This is another example of what I call a 'rough edge'.

I'm dead certain, 100% that I've added and removed VST plugins in MC20 or MC21.  Can't remember which.  It certainly was working at some point.

Adding them hasn't been the problem.
I had added 5-6 parametric EQ and other Plug-ins at one point but I couldn't delete them.
And I just did the same thing in v.22, thus this bug report.

I'm totally sure that I removed VSTs from MC in previous versions.  Just can't remember if it was 20 or 21.

You're right that it's currently broken.  But you're not right that "it's always been broken".  I'm sure they will fix it, either way.

Um, ever since I first tried to delete them it has failed.
And in thinking back it was v.20 where I first ran into this bug.
It remained with v.21 and now with v.22.
So while it not have been "always" broken it has been that way for these 3 major versions, right up to the present for me on my system.

I just updated to v.22.0.22 and tried to delete a DSP plugin.

At first it looked like it worked, then MC crashed 1 second later.

Then I rebooted and the plug-in I thought was gone was still there.

I just downloaded v.30 and the plugins still don't get uninstalled.
But the app does still crash, only now it HAS to be forced quit (spinning beach ball doesn't stop).

Just another data point.

I've always had a hard time getting MC to install plugins.  What I mean is, MC only seems to work with about 1 in 10 of the VST plugins I try.  On the ones it does NOT work for, it just says that it could not install the plugin.  No crash, no weirdness, just "it didn't work".

I just did a bunch of testing and couldn't find any plugins that work with MC.  So I reverted to my old standby Marvel-GEQ.

http://www.voxengo.com/product/marvelgeq/

I found that, I had removed Marvel previously, but apparently only for one of my audio devices.  It was still installed for my other device.  Now I'm finding that it *seems* to uninstall, but once I stop and restart MC, the plugin is right back again.

I guess, despite my earlier testing, the VST plugin support still has some issues on this build: 22.0.30.

So I just added yet another plugin to the DSP stack and when I went to delete it, it DID disappear from the list

THANK YOU for fixing this bug.
I appreciate it.
