Find/Replace BUG
« on: July 28, 2003, 09:36:50 am »

I've tried in MANY different ways to change path for files and folders using the Find/Replace tool without any luck.

This is what's tried:
Tried filename, filename (path) and filename (name)

Find:
E:\My music2\_Albums\666 - Paradoxx (1998)\
Replace:
F:\My music\_Albums\666 - Paradoxx (1998)\

Resulted in 0 results.

And it REALLY should work. This is an extract from the help file:

Find and Replace

This is a quick way of editing your file tags. If, for example, you find that you have misspelled an artist name, you can easily replace the wrong name with the right one. This feature will find/replace the following fields: track name, artist, album, comment, genre, album artist, location, and the 3 custom fields.

You can also use this feature to rename a drive path. If you have moved all your files onto a new drive, or into a new folder, tell Media Center to search for the old folder name, and replace it with the new.

So, is this a confirmed bug?

It's only finding and replacing on the current selection.  Could that be the gotcha?

(I just tried a find and replace on the filename and it worked for me)

Ah! Strange... didn't even think of that it only applied to selected files, I'm so used to working with similar functions in other programs where it's applied to all files/text. But it's most likely the correct way to do it (since every other tool in properties applies to the selected files!)

Just wished you'd be around last time I asked about this...could have saved me alot of trouble! :)

Thanks alot!
