How do I share record cover images on both Mac and PC?

I'm running MC20 on a Mac and on a PC.  Some of my files are on portable drives that I switch between the two systems.  This works fine for the music, but on MC the record covers don't transfer from the portable drives to the Mac.  I always get an error message saying that the image files are "read-only", even though they aren't marked "read-only" on the PC.  I should be able to store the image files somewhere on the Mac to make them available to MC.  How can I do this?  Thanks for any suggestions.
