Webroot finds Virus and Won't Allow Installation
« on: April 27, 2017, 09:02:33 am »

Hi, y'all,

It all started when I took my computer with my on a trip.  When I got back, Webroot said it detected a virus in one of the JRiver files and deleted part of the program.  I tried a full uninstall and a reload, but once again Webroot said there was a virus in the program and blocked the installation.  Has anyone else had this issue?

My main concern is that, while staying at the hotel, something imbedded itself in my registry and is trying to use JRiver (or one of its plug-ins) to activate itself.  So I'm reluctant to deactivate the virus protector while reinstalling the program.  Any advice will be welcome.  Thanks!

I get this frequently

If you are comfortable that you got the file from this website, it's fine

AVR looks suspiciously at programs that have a a lot of "power" over the file system which by definition MC does

If I was really concerned, I would uninstall MC, do a full virus and malware scan, and reinstall fresh with a new file off the forum link

Please report it to the AV vendor.

I also use Webroot, and I just installed with no problems.  Webroot did ask my permission to access the JRiver site from within the software.  But, it did install successfully.

So, it might not be the AV vendor.

I re-downloaded it from the Forum page and had no problems with installation.  Go fig!
