Control over down-mixing volumes

Another query, sorry!

Is is possible to control the relative volumes of a multi-channel file when down-mixing to stereo? Typically in a home theatre I prefer the centre channel to be a little louder for clearer dialogue, but I can't recreate that effect in stereo.
