I noticed a few of you own either a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 Gen 1 or Gen 2, and I am considering purchasing one or the other. I currently have a need for 12 channels and may possibly have a need for 2 more, making the total count 14. It looks like all 8 output channels and 2 monitor channels 1 & 2 are fully independent and assignable, and along with the coaxial digital output with a DAC, that would give me 12 channels total. They don't necessarily have to be balanced connections either, due to short cable runs. My question is, are the two front-panel headphone jacks independent and assignable as well? The literature maybe suggests so, as in many Roland products, and that feature would probably serve in a pinch as two additional channels if so. However, in Gen 1's MixControl it looks like both headphone outputs can only be tied to outputs 7,8,9, and 10. It's probably the same in Gen 2. Any ideas? I wanted to ask an actual owner to verify.
