Hi, I am using MC22 for Mac on my iMac.   My 0/S is Sierra latest.    I have a Sennheiser HDVD800 headphone amplifier plugged via USB into the iMac.   For all other audio programs i.e. Tidal, Youtube, iTunes, when I select sound preference, it automatically goes to Sennheiser USB Audio Output 2.0.   However, when I select an audio file to play using MC22, it immediately shows “internal speakers” under sound preferences.    The music will play through the headphones, so I assume that it is coming through the USB port and the Sennheiser DAC, however, sound preferences shows internal speakers.    I spoke to Apple and they said that they believe it is a bug in the MC22 software.    Has anyone else experienced this issue.   Is there a setting that I am missing in the jriver software.

Thanks.

Please choose the device you want under MC's Audio settings.

That part I had already tried.     I went to Player>Playback Options>Audio>  and selected the Sennheiser USB 2.0 Audio Out (Core Audio).    It does not have any impact on the sound preferences selection - still goes to internal speakers.

It's not all that clear what you are reporting.  I think I have it right, but let's be sure:

1.  When you play from JRiver MC, it plays through your DAC as you want it to.  The sound is as you expect it to be.
2.  But, when you look at the Mac's preferences for Sound, it shows that the default device is "internal speakers".  You wonder why the Mac doesn't show the correct audio device.

If this is correct, it's actually exactly what should be happening.  MC does NOT change the Mac's default sound device.  It bypasses the default device settings and sends audio directly to the sound device that you configured under the Audio section of MC's options.

If something else is going on, please give us some more information so we can try to help you troubleshoot it.  Otherwise, enjoy MC, and the music.  :)
