Help MC23 hangs my Mac
« on: August 05, 2017, 03:21:28 pm »

Hi,

I just installed (licensed) MC23.0.20 on my Mac (14,2) with plenty of memory and nothing else running. I imported 2000+ movies from my NAS and when I try to run one of the movies (any) the whole system freezes. This happens every time.

Any help is appreciated.

MC should not be able to "freeze" your Mac.  It might freeze itself, but it shouldn't be able to freeze the whole Mac.  If the whole mac is affected, I suspect that something else is going on:  Bad hardware, corrupted OS, etc.

Can you play any type of file at all?  Movies, music, etc?  Do you movie files play on other players on that Mac?

Brian.

Thanks for the response blgentry. The movies are on my home NAS share. I can play music without any problems. Are there any issues with accessing movies or other files on a SMB NAS share? BTW, the music is located locally.

That's the only difference.

As a test, see if it works with a video file located locally. If it works, the issue likely lies in the network/NAS.
