Library Issues SOLVED
« on: August 24, 2017, 09:06:06 am »

I'm running MC 23.0.36 and just ran into a rather weird problem.

I have two different directories, one containing MP3s, which is on my C drive, and the other containing FLAC fliles, which is on an external USB hard disc.  I have three libraries, one for each of the two file types and a third which contains both.  This morning, when I switched to the FLAC library, I noticed that the "import" option is greyed out.

Any idea what would cause this?

Thanks

Import will disable if you're in Party mode, or you're connected to a library server.  Could one of those be true?

Thanks for the reply.

I don't believe I'm in "Party" mode, because I don't even know what that is.  Regarding the  library server, I don't understand what that is.  As far as I know, I haven't changed anything and the disc containing the files is a local USB drive.  However, it did seem to indicate something about a library server when I switched to the FLAC library.  How would I determine whether I'm connected to a library server?

It is a kind of wonky set up.  I have three different PCs and two RPIs all on the network.  Could MC get confused by that?

Just double-check that it didn't get turned on by mistake.  View > Party Mode in the menu.

I checked and it's not in party mode.

The drive letter did not change.  However, I think  I might have stumbled onto the issue:  As stated, the FLAC files were located on the USB drive (H:), and for simplicity of backup I also put the library file on the H: drive.   I've now deleted the library, created a new one on the C: drive, and it seems to be working.  At least, it's currently importing files....

yes I believe you found your problem....the data base must be on your c drive unless you installed MC as portable....I believe.
