Skipping Track 2
« on: September 21, 2017, 10:55:26 am »

Hi the set up is Big PC as MC server, Cambridge Audio CXN as renderer as a Zone in MC

JRemote as control

My problem is that running, I get a consistent skip track 1 then track 3 . It's always Track 2 that skips

Any ideas, the rest of the album plays fine, but skip happens a lot, maybe not every album but probably half !!

The renderer is probably not supporting SetNextAVTransportURI properly.
Right click on the renderer zone then find DNLA controller option and turn off SetNext support.

Hi Bob

The setup has been like this for over 2 years. This has only just started.

There have been no firmware updates to the CXN for over a year

I tried with MC22 and MC23. They both skip with the Cambridge Audio NP30 we have here for testing.

This was not the case before, the NP30 was one of the few devices that seemed to support SetNext properly.
And that is the issue. Turning off SetNext support fixes the skip.

Tracing the dump from the NP30 turned up an issue with the DLNA controller option "Ignore GetPosition failure". This option helps with non-compliant firmware.

The NP30 is improperly sending back a server error for a function required to be supported by the protocol, I assume yours is doing the same.

With the next build of MC the Option will not be on by default (the logic was reversed) so now the default will be to use the relaxed testing.
This will avoid triggering the bug in your firmware and fixes the skip issue without turning off the SetNext (gapless) support.

Several things were fixed and enhanced.
Do you have "Ignore GetPosition Failure" on or off?

I now have

Ignore Transport Events - Unticked
Disable Set Next Support - Ticked
Ignore Get Position Failure - Ticked

I assume this won't impact gapless playback

Lets see what happens

Thanks for the input

It plays ...  ;D  but I prefer Abbey Road without the Gaps & Stutters ....

I took off the 2 ticks and gapless returned , I haven't had chance to check if Track 2 skipping is OK yet

Maybe I put the ticks back one at a time

Any suggestions which is the offender

I use Abbey Road as my gapless test! I'm sure everyone here is getting sick of it ;)

The option to Ignore GetPosition failure will prevent gapless playback since we need to know the position to determine when to send the next track.
I think you should try it with everything unticked (which does have different behavior from the previous build) and if that doesn't work, with just Ignore Transport Events ticked.
