Why am I asked to accept the licence agreement again and again?
« on: November 20, 2017, 01:26:44 am »

Hi. I'm totally new to Mac (three days ago) but most things are clearing now. But: when I installed MC, I decided to place the program on the desktop (is that OK?). The problem is, that each time I open the program, I'm prompted to accept the end user agreement. When I do this, the program opens and my files are all there. But something tells me I must have done something not quite right?
Thanks in advance.

EDIT: It is not the program that is lying there on the desktop, it is what must be the install icon. Could I safely remove it, or should it be moved?

Placing the program on the desktop is bad idea (and is likely the cause of your issues). You need to open (mount) the Media Center 23 .DMG file then you need to drag and drop the Media Center 23 app into the Applications folder and run it from there.

Thanks, though I don't quite know what you mean. (Technically unskilled.) Is the DMG file the one that is currently on my desktop (to symbols: the MC and a folder symbol will open). (Unfortunately, I'm at work now, so I take this from memory.) MC23 IS already in my Applications folder, though. If that is the same as the Dock at the bottom.
Please forgive me for being a bit slow, but I'm only Three days into Mac, and MC was one of the things I was most eager to get running.  :)

Inside the folder that opens is there an image of an arrow pointing down at a folder? That's showing you to drag and drop the top app/icon into the bottom icon. Then open the Applications folder and start MC from there.

Here's a better description how how to deal with DMGs and apps, with pictures: https://www.howtogeek.com/177619/how-to-install-applications-on-a-mac-everything-you-need-to-know/

Follow the part about DMGs.

Thanks a lot! That worked perfectly. Like it was said in the link, it was probably easier than a Windows user would think. One final question then: what should I do with the icon left on my desktop, now that MC runs fine from the dock? Delete it? "Unload" "Clear up" (both loosely translated from Norwegian)?
