MJ9 breaks connection to my server at home!
« on: January 29, 2003, 08:38:43 am »

Installed MJ9 here at work to try it out.  Well, I no longer have the option of connecting to my streaming media server at home.  It is listed in the features as working, as well as in the help file but isnt in the program.

Whats up?

Both the server and the client need to be the same version. You can't Med Serv w/ v8 and connect w/ v9.

Are you running the same build of MC 9 at both ends? Do you have a firewall installed? (Zone Alarm is a problem).

Also, accessing the server has changed in 9. It's not in the Tools drop-down any more. You get to it by opening Files>Library Manager in the client, adding a remote library using the external IP address for the host with the iteration "m01p://[external host IP address]". Then, from the Files dropdown in the client, select "Remote Library", or whatever you named it. (This is all from memory.)

I'm running MP8 at home so I'll leave her be.  Back to MP8 at work I guess.....
