JRM 23 for linux playback issues- auto downsampling
« on: January 09, 2018, 12:09:46 pm »

I just installed this using Noobian onto a Raspberry Pi 3.  I have a lot of music in FLAC format, ripped at 192/24.  My DAC is playing them back at 48.  Per Audio Path in the Player drop down, the input is 192/24 from source, changes- Resample from 192 to 48.  Output 48/32 using Alsa.  I've changed around the Tools>Options>Audio Devices without success.  Any idea why Audio Path is automatically downsampling the file?

Are you using the pulse audio output? I suggest using hw: or front: instead.

Issue solved!

Thanks AD.  After continuing to fiddle with it I realized that under the Player pull down that the DSP Studio options had output ticked causing the downsampling.  All good now.

I'm having a similar problem.

The 2 relevant options in Player/Options are:

default: (Amanero/ALSA etc)
front:

but when I use 'default', my instruction to leave all formats intact is ignored, and it outputs only 48 kHz (eg for 24/192 file).

Changing to 'front', my DAC displays PCM 192, but is silent.

I've had this working properly before, but this new MC23, at present, is not remembering my output formats.

Not to worry. I rebooted the DAC, and after couple of other tries (4 x 200m walks between computer and server), the music played (set as 'front').

Then - I'd set it to 'repeat', and before the last bars had died down, the first track started up - ah, the delights of computer audio.
