idPi, fully baked, a la mode? (touchscreen)
« on: January 09, 2018, 04:31:46 pm »

I have a dream.  It involves having wall mounted touch screens in all the rooms of my home for controlling music served up by MC.

But all of the solutions I've seen so far are prohibitively expensive even though I have a head start in that I already have speakers in the ceiling.

A screen similar to this would be ideal in that it has a few hard buttons that could be used for power, mode, or volume up/down but that's not a deal breaker.  Mostly I'm interested in the screen for its ability to show metadata and soft buttons for controlling playback.

My dream could include this Monoprice amp and some PoE adapters (or a PoE enabled switch).

Anyone else have a similar dream?

Cheers.

We've tested successfully with this screen:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0153R2A9I

Search for HiFiBerry here.  It's an add-on board that is a DAC and Amp.  Just add speakers.

I used the exact same screen for a similar idea. It works great!

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Looks like what's currently out there could get me about 50% to 75% to where I want to me.

Now I just need to retire so I can spend some serious time on this! :)
