MC23 and DLNA
« on: February 20, 2018, 02:41:42 pm »

After switching to Media Center 23 I'm experiencing DLNA disconnect issues.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks

I'm using DLNA to control 5 MC zones through my house using homeseer with the media controller plugin. After startup everything works fine but every time after 1 hour the players disconnect. This started happening with MC23. After switching back to MC22 this problem disappeared. I'm only using the transport function not the library funtion.

Use IP address reservations and IP address allocations via DHCP on your router, on MC and all renderers.

Both MC and homeseer are running on the same computer with a static ip-address

You say you have 5 zones. Make sure that all these have reserved or static IP addresses, and that there are no duplicates.

I apologize but I'm confused. I have 5 zones defined within MC. I'm not aware that I can set different ip adresses for this, please point m in the right direction.
Besides that my setup worked flawlessly for years with older versions. Also attached a screenshot of my setup.

Thanks

Your 5 zones are some kind of media renderer right? (What make are they?) And each of them is on your LAN, and each of them has an IP address.

So make sure that those renderers all get their IP addresses from the router automatically via DHCP. And make sure that on the router the respective DHCP IP addresses are RESERVED forever for the respective renderer.

This ensures that all renderers will have IP addresses in the range that your router can route. That each renderer has a unique address (no duplicates). That each renderers address will not change over time.

My zones are not media renderers running on separate computers they are all running on the same computer (the media server). This computer also runs my homecontrol software. The mediaserver has 5 soundcards connected to individual amplifiers serving music to different parts of my property. I only use the DLNA connecting to control the zones using my homecontrol software. not to stream media.
