How do I import my library from an older version?
« on: June 16, 2003, 08:33:42 am »

I downloaded the 9. version... But when I went to import my library backup file, it say it's looking for only a zip file.  I must have used an old version... It's not a zip file.  There are 4 folders in my "backup folder."   Any ideas on how to import/load my library?  Thanks...

You should be able to add those 4 files to a zip, and then feed MC that.

Otherwise, you can copy those files to the MC\Data directory.  Be sure to backup (then remove) the current .jmd files in that folder.

Hope that helps.

why not just re-import the files?

there is no telling what you used since you did not state what version you used to make the backup

or what the file names are inside the folders.

i could guess but i don't think that would help much

if i back up today i will have a file called

MC Library Backup (Default - 6-16-2003).zip

inside that Zip file is

Browser.jmd
Mediafiles.jmd
playlistx.jmd
removable.jmd

if they are the same matt said then as he stated if you zip them up it should then work.

Thanks, everybody.  Matt, I made it into a zip file, but, after I tried it, it said, "unable to restore library..."  My old backup files only had three files... not the one with the "x" in the name...  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

If it's a version 7 or before library, your best bet is to reimport instead of restoring from a backup.  A lot has changed in the few years since 7 was current.
