Periodic scramble of album art

No matter what I do with my WAV files, JR24-Mac seems to periodically scramble the cover art.  It's particularly bad about doing so right after I add new CD rips to the library (stored on an external RAID drive).  It doesn't lose the titles - but the cover art rarely matches the title.

What am I doing wrong / what can I do to prevent this / I don't want to convert to FLAC format.
