JR 5.1 AUDIO ANOMALY
« on: August 31, 2018, 04:36:43 pm »

Interface Babyface (v1)

With JR set to 5.1 I have noticed a couple odd inconsistencies with audio playback.

The pink noise test shows CH4 (sub) is exactly -10dB lower than the rest of the channels and exhibits more shaky up/down oscillation. Notice the image (refer below) with the last channel lower than the rest. Is JR processing this channel differently for some reason? Maybe something to do with LFE playback?

Also, with the volume calibration test, the individual test tones exhibit similar behavior in the meters (refer below) with the -10 dB lowered CH4. However in this instance, channels 1, 2 , 3 are inaudible. I can hear the audio fine in the previous test. It doesn't make sense. It shows they are playing all the way through my interface outputs (like with the previous test) but there's no actual sound emanating from the speakers.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to get Audiolense going ASAP. Thanks

After running the attached 5.1 test video, I see the .1 does exhibit some different behavior (lower vol).

Still doesn't explain why the JR CH1 L, CH2 R, CH3 C volume cal test tones are inaudible. Odd.

LFE is encoded at -10dB and is supposed to be boosted +10dB by the amplifier.
So your test signal also has to be -10dB.

Ah yes, that new bit of information slapped me in the face earlier. Appreciated anyways.
