ID Pi Licensing
« on: September 18, 2018, 08:32:42 am »

Hi

If I go for a ID Pi , what license do I need , it obviously runs on Linux , I currently run Windows, do I need a Master License or is the ID Pi software inclusive of license ?

PS

is it possible to download the image and burn it onto my own SD card with Etcher ( a free download that burns the image onto a SD Card ) or the like. It would make life easier and cheaper for me , as its going to cost me $10 shipping to South Africa on top of the card cost.

This seems a normal "distribution method" for MC in the 3 operating system versions so why not ID Pi ? (apart from the obvious profit motive )

The Id and Id Pi has its own license built into the device (or in this case the SD card image used for the Id Pi) and it can't use a normal MC Windows, Mac, Linux or Master license.

JRiver doesn't offer image downloads as they have to customize each Id/Id Pi with its own unique license, so they only offer fully baked Id Pis (includes a full Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ build with the microSD card that has the OS+MC (and license) included or just a microSD card with the OS+MC (and license) pre-installed that you can pop into your own Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ for example.
