My Macbook Pro is connected to a MC Server (Win 10) trough Wifi. MacBook Pro-> Devialet AIR (Wifi) ->D220 Pro

- High Res works now. I can play 24 bit 192 kHz. Thanks to blgentry
- DSD plays the file and you hear the music playing in the background, but white noise is always playing in the foreground.

Any Idea?

Settings:
- Bitstreaming: Yes (DSD)
- DSD input plugin configured to the default: Safe (24kHz @48db/octave); Number of threads... : auto
- In the Core Audio Settings: Integer mode is enabled -> is this correct?

Try these...

1) Make sure the macOS system volume and volume within MC are both set to 100%.

2) Open the Audio MIDI Setup app in macOS, and if your output is shown there, set it to the highest bit-depth/sample rate available.

The latter is likely to make the most difference. Some DACs and devices require having the highest bit-depth and sample rate set in the Audio MIDI Setup app to get DSD bitstreaming working otherwise you just get noise.

I remember having this issue some time ago, I use JRiver in a PC, but I think that the problem may be the same.
Maximize the volume of the hardware that it's bistreaming the DSD, that did it for me.

-Tried that yesterday, does not work, disabled MC Volume and instead use Devialet Volume Control

The white noise goes away when playing DSD through UpNP. Seems a Devialet AIR problem?

Devialet AIR may or may not be the problem.  It's a pretty unusual setup for anyone that's not familiar:  AIR is a "virtual sound card" that becomes available to the Mac to play audio.  Meanwhile, under the covers, it's sending audio to the Devialet, via some unknown method, via wifi.

So, trying to send something as "special and sensitive" as DSD might require some very detailed settings to make sure it's right.

The Devialet is billed as a convenience speaker; not exactly an audiophile device.  So why not let MC convert DSD to PCM instead?  That should make things a lot more simple.  If you still want pure DSD that's cool.  I'm just making a suggestion.

Devialet actually recommends connecting via USB when doing DSD playback, from what I've read about it. But I have zero experience with a Devialet AIR so it could be tricky.

It is not new to me, I tried everything SPDIF,USB, AIR on my Win 10 environment and DSD files run without any problems with Devialet AIR even through a  more complicated network route:
MC Server (Win 10) trough ->Wlan Bridge->Wifi->Lan Bridge->PC->MC->Devialet AIR (500ms buffer)->Lan Bridge->Wifi->WLan Bridge->Ethernet->D220 Pro.

It must be a problem on the MacPro OS and AIR.

 DSD64 over DoP on the MacOS with AIR3 is to my last understanding not supported. Different to Win 10. Only USB or SPDIF (RCA/AES).

DSD with a Devialet only works with USB (not SPDIF, Ethernet or wireless).   Also, the Devialet will not play DSD files having a bitrate above 22579 KHz.  There is just silence.  To hear the music, you have to disable Bitstream, then it plays at 176KHz

Pressing the left remote button shows DSD64 for the files it will play.

However, of 8000 odd albums, only 2 have a higher bitrate than 22579KHz.  Possibly Devialet will fix this, as they have done many other issues

The other thing worth mentioning is that a well made (not necessarily expensive) USB cable is an absolute must

Sorry but that is not true, originally it was only USB, but I have played DSD 64 over DoP on Asus Soundcard (RCA SPDIF) as well as using AIR, both on Win10.

But an ASUS soundcard is not a Devialet, so how can you say it works?

I also have an inexpensive Topping USB DAC and this does DSD 512

I have used the  Asus SC to output 24/192kHz through the RCA/SPDIF  output and connects them via COAX SPDIF cable to the D220 Pro. DSS works then via DSD64 over DoP.
