MCWS PlayDoctor: Seed parameter?
« on: November 27, 2018, 12:13:42 pm »

What are the possibilities for the Seed parameter and what is the format?  File key? Artist name?  Thanks.

It's the same thing you would type into the Play Doctor box in Playing Now.  It says:
"Enter any artist, genre, or song."

I don't see a Play Doctor box in Playing Now.  I am able to start Play Doctor by right-clicking on a track or library item.  So, it expects a track name string instead of a key?  An album name would not work?  Thanks.

I think an album would work as well.

You should see the box if you stop playback in any Playing Now.  It's in the space above the file list.

I was checking while music was playing so I didn't see the box  :).

How do you specify what the string is in the MCWS Seed parameter (i.e. indicate it is a song name, artist, genre, etc.)?  For example, if I call it with the song name of "Dreams" it doesn't seem to interpret that as the song name and doesn't start playing that song first as it does in the MC UI.  It also seems to add somewhat "unrelated" tracks to playing now (at least when compared to how it behaves when starting from the MC UI).  I tried using [Name]=Dreams but that doesn't work.

I don't think the seed parameter is loading right.

Next build:
Fixed: The seed parameter of the play doctor MCWS command would not load properly.

Hopefully it will all be good after that :)

Thanks for fixing this.  It is loading the parameter now but is there a way to be more specific with MCWS?  That is, if I use Dreams it "seeds" with a song that contains Dreams in the song name or album name instead of the song with the specific name of Dreams.

You could try:
[Name]=[Dreams]

I know this is an old thread but I’m interested to know how to use the song that is currently playing as a seed. On the desktop this is available if I right click on a song and choose “Play with Doctor”

I have asked in another thread if there is a way to have a key command for that but apparently it isn’t possible?

In MCWS I can use http://x.x.x.x:52199/MCWS/v1/Playback/PlayDoctor?Zone=-1&ZoneType=ID and in the documentation is says Seed defaults to “(default: )” so it is not clear to me if I invoke this while a song is playing what is being used as the seed. Is it everything in Now Playing? There are times when I am in my theater and I hear a song and think “I’d be interested to hear a Play Doctor list based on this song” and I’d like to be able to generate.

Figured it out. Now just need to have my Track Info plugin grab the key of the current tune.

http://localhost:52199/MCWS/v1/Browse/Files?Action=play&ActiveFile=<keyofcurrenttrackgoeshere>&ActiveFileOnly=1&PlayDoctor=1&Zone=-1&ZoneType=ID
