Good day,
Pre-order a JRiver Media Center 25 upgrade license today to receive the best price of the year  --  30% off.  This sale will end soon.

We offer this pre-order discount just once each year.  JRiver Media Center 25 will be available in about two months (we'll let you know).  Early builds will improve on MC24, and MC25 will continue to improve throughout the year.

Please pre-order by March 20th to get our best special upgrade prices:

Windows Upgrade  (Direct Link)

Mac Upgrade

Linux Upgrade

Master License Upgrade    (for Windows, Mac, and Linux)

You can upgrade, at these prices, from any previous version of JRiver Media Center, all the way back to MC10.  Please see Upgrade Help for how to recover an old license you may have.

These licenses work with MC24 now and will work with MC25 when it is available.  Your data from your older version of MC will be converted automatically.

Questions?  Confusion?
Upgrade Help on the JRiver forum will step you through the process.

MC24 was a big hit and we have ambitious plans for MC25, and we think you'll be pleased.

To get the best price of the year on MC25. please pre-order now.

If you have never purchased MC, just download and purchase MC24.  You will receive an MC25 license that works with both versions.  When MC25 is available, you can just download and install it.

Thank You!  Your continued support means a lot to the JRiver team!  It gives us the ability to continually refine the product and an opportunity to provide you a product of consistently high quality.

Best regards,

JRiver

What features are planned for MC25 so far?

It would be great to update us on the possible features of JRiver Media Center 25 before we decide if we want to upgrade from the previous versions or not.

Another upgrade to pay for in less than 12 months, hang on, this would be the 3rd in less than eighteen months I would have bought.  Are you trying to copy Apple with a new product every year.

Uhhh, major MC updates are released every year. It's been nearly a year since MC24 was announced, so it makes sense. Look what MC24 accomplished within that year.

Also, there's no requirement that says users have to purchase upgrades. If you don't want to upgrade and you're satisfied with the version you're using now, then don't upgrade as your current version of MC will still work just fine.

If a user decides to upgrade, then you're supporting the ongoing development of JRiver Media Center. Though, it's probably still a little too early for them to talk about feature plans for MC25 until they get a little further long in the development. But, if you're even considering the upgrade, I'd consider doing it now during the early bird special. Why? Well a situation might arise where later on in the MC25 development cycle an appealing feature (or features) lands in MC25 but the upgrade is at the full cost whereas with the early bird special you save money AND support the development. But, I do understand the wait and see approach for potential upgraders. Personally? I like to support the development so it was a no-brainer. I can't wait to see what comes in MC25! :D

More info about JRiver's business model (just in case there's any more confusion): https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,81987.0.html

Same here. As long as the program and quality stays this good, I have no problem upgrading and supporting jriver.

Hi Guys,
Yes I'll upgrade if MC25 is available and supported for my platform which is the Id.
The Id seems to be treated as a separate platform and left off the main stream Windows/Unix/Mac platforms - why is this?

Keep up the good work but let me know the answer to the above asap so I can order (or not) as the case may be.

That's right, the Id is a separate platform consisting of physical hardware and a custom OS with MC that has its own special license built-in (and it's all maintained by JRiver), so it doesn't use normal licenses (e.g. Master or Linux licenses). Thus far the Id has got several major MC updates at no extra cost, just the cost of the initial device. Not sure if that trend is going to continue or not with MC25, so that's up to JRiver. I've actually been thinking about getting an Id myself at some point. Not only do I think it'd be fun to tinker with (and maintain a NAS library with), I'd also like to have a crack at making a MC skin for the Fluxbox desktop environment it uses. :P

I would like some sort of list of possible new features before I pre-order. That being said, if I see a feature I want after it's been released, I have no problem paying full price to get it, since JRiver is such a good product and company.

Hi guys,

have just updated from MediaCenter 23 to 25, paid the 19.98USD but when I try to activate the new keycode a message with "Your license is for a different product".

Could you please PM me so that this issue can be cleared up?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Cleared up... My bad! I have downloaded the 24 version, installed it and given the registration key for the 25-V version.

Everthing's fine now.  ;D ;D ;D

If you're using the latest build of MC24, sure, you can use the MC25 license now. I'm not sure, but it *might* carry over if you do a library backup from MC24 to MC25 once released.

MC has a great track record, and I have upgraded every version since MJ6, I think.  However, I agree it would be nice if there were some more specific feature roadmap information provided with the upgrade offer. That said, maybe the 30% discount is meant to incentivize a more leap of faith type purchase.

I tried to early upgrade (God knows I tried) but your payment website procedure kept refusing my previous password. It asked me to create a new password, and immediately refused them (I tried twice more). It seems I am destined to sit out this upgrade. Why do you make it so difficult to upgrade?

Tried to buy the upgrade and when I click on the windows upgrade direct link it takes me to a page to enter my registration code. when I click the purchase media center 25 windows it goes to a page that says (Please use the program to initiate purchase.) I do not see a way to do this. If you want up to buy the upgrade please make it easier.
Thanks

You don't need to buy, but it does help fund our development.  Who knows when you'll want something we've been working on?

I looked up your license.  You purchased MC24 seven months ago.  MC25 won't be out until April, so that's ten months from your purchase date.

Again, we appreciate the help, but understand you may have other priorities.

Thanks, I am aware your kind of subscription model. I just wanted clarification that there will be no new features to MC24 and public MC25 will be released in April.

Which upgrade?  Which license?

Jim, I currently have a license for MC 24. I received the email that was sent out.  "Media Center 25 -- Pre-order Now for the Best Price of the Year"   I tried to buy the upgrade and received the message that I posted in my previous post. I tried to buy the upgrade from the direct link that was in the email. Why must this be so hard??? I really want to support JRiver.

It's not a subscription unless you want it to be.  You could have bought MC10 or MC11, then waited a decade to upgrade to MC25.

Seriously Jim? I have a Windows 24 license and my post said I tried to purchase the upgrade to media center 25. So I get that you couldn't look me up by my email because that might incur an upgrade charge. But this is your issue, not mine, and it means I won't be upgrading.

I have no problem supporting JRiver Team but I am pretty happy with 24.
Please tell us what we get for our money by buying 25.
But also have no problem paying full price later if I see 25 has options I miss in 24.

I've just tried your MC24 license (using copy and paste) on the MC25 upgrade link.  It works.  Here's the link:

I think you may have entered the license with a typo.  Try copy and paste.

Jim, thanks for look in to this. I tried the link you posted and it worked. I was able to buy the update. I still had the other link opened and tried it again and still got the error message. I did cut and paste my MC 24 license into both links So I do not know why it would not work before.

I do not feel that you guys need to apologize, You do a great job of keeping this great site and program running. This is one of the best sites I have ever been on for helping members with issues. Please continue the great work and if I came across wrong with my posts I am sorry. I was just getting frustrated when I could not get the update to work.

Hi.  I've been buying the upgrades for several years in a row now.  I'm using it 90% on Mac and continue to feel like we're the poor step-children :)

Please, please, please finally get  MC for Mac to support OSX's full-screen mode.  There have been several threads asking about this over the years  with no results.

Thanks  - David

I usually but every single upgrade, but I must admit I am thinking abit more about it this time, v24 hasn't brought that much of interest to me. The team usually does great work, but the focus this time around has made it somewhat less tempting. Don't know if i represent the average user though.

I purchased my license this year.  It's disappointing to see an upgrade that I have to pay for less than 2 weeks after I purchased it.  Do you have a way to allow a recent purchaser to upgrade without charge?
