JRiver Media Center 24 for Mac - DSP Studio Presets Not Saving
« on: February 12, 2019, 04:29:52 am »

The DSP Studio settings when changed are not saving after playing a file. The settings revert to the old setting which defaults playback sample rate to 44100 Hz

My whole library is mostly 44100Hz files and it's very frustrating. Is there a solution for this?

Are you just changing the DSP settings in the dialog box you show?  Or are you saving that as a named preset and trying to do something with it?

If you ignore named presets for a moment, your DSP settings should just stay exactly as they are.  Unless:

1.  Your audio device is a network device using DLNA.
2.  You have used MC's advanced feature which allows you to set a DSP preset *per song* and have applied this to the songs you are testing.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for responding.

I was only changing the DSP settings in the dialog box before I had to try saving.
I've tried ignoring the named presets as you suggested but they don't stay as they are after playing a track. They revert back to the setting as in the attached screenshot (showing 48,000 Hz output).

Just changing the values in the dialog box should "stick" until something changes them.  What is your playback device?  Is it attached to your computer with USB?  Or is it a network device?  Or... ?

I think I'm having the same issue.

I noticed it with 24.0.72. I tried it again with 24.0.75.

I'm using a MacBook Pro with Mojave 10.14.3.

I'm not using DLNA or DSP preset per song.

I'm not using saved presets, I'm just changing the output in the window shown.

As a result I get no hi res output.

I don't mess with this often, so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Even if you don't use presets they are associated with the current zone.
Are you saying that when you stop and restart MC the settings you made in DSP studio are gone?

Hi Bob,

See my screen shot for the sample rates.

There is the column for input and output.

I'm changing the output and it is not saved.

As an example, input is 96,000 Hz. I change the output to No change. And it gets reverted back to 48,000 Hz.

Check the setting in Tools->Options->Audio->Advanced->Auto configure output settings on playback error.
Set it to no.
Then if playback fails you'll get a message box to that effect as opposed to automatic rate resampling.

Hi Bob,

That works.

Thanks for pointing out the setting. My sampling settings are now saved.

I'm still struggling with a problem but I don't think it is related to MC. I can now get hi-res sampling when I use my PCs internal speakers. When I switch to my Bose speakers it is not supported so I have to downsample to 48Khz. These are USB speakers and if memory serves me I used to be able to get hi-res sampling. Anyway, I'll keep playing with it.

You might want to check the sample rate for the Bose set in the Midi settings. You might be able to change it there...
